Keep Up The Tempo
Posted by Megan

Tempo, a new online magazine, is just another example of how sophisticated design is being created by more and more people. A group of Canadian high school students started the zine as their final senior project, but decided to keep it going online after they graduated. We'll been keeping an eye out for the next issue!

It's very nice to see young talent and young talent retain inspiration. It's quite interesting to see the design of high school students (age group and not being college educated) these days. A lot of influence from the internet and society as always...but knowing enough to hang punctuation or picking up on design styles from "famous" designers that are probably not yet taught to them at a high school level. Very interesting and from an editorial design point of view, the challenges that they face and the ways in which they deal with design problems is very nice to see. While not perfect, these students are very well on their way to a career in design. I know that in high school I was never designing like this nor tackling such controversial social topics. It's refreshing and it feels good to know. I just hope that their future education can save them from some of the pitfalls that hold back so much other good talent.
