Design Director/Graphic Design Manager SRI International, Menlo Park, CA
This combined role of design director and manager of the graphic design
team within SRI International's Corporate and Marketing Communications
Department involves managing activities of the graphic design function
and staff in support of SRI's business objectives. The successful
candidate will be able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
deftly, meet customer expectations consistently, and direct designers
effectively, and will have excellent interpersonal, time management,
and project management skills.
In collaboration with other
members of the Corporate and Marketing Communications Department and
staff throughout SRI, you will interpret communications strategies into
creative approaches and treatments. As a brand champion, you will
express and apply the brand effectively across multiple media through
visual design and corporate identity standards.
Providing
strategic leadership and design direction, you will initiate, inspire,
and stimulate creative ideas and approaches; develop creative briefs;
and direct and execute appropriate solutions to deliverables such as
brochures, presentations, displays, tradeshow exhibits, web sites,
signage, identity systems, illustrations, and more.
As manager
of a small, in-house team of designers, you are responsible for the
completion of work within budget, schedule, and design parameters, and
for ensuring that results are consistent with corporate objectives and
image and are current with regard to trends and best practices. Responsibilities
also include individual performance reviews and coaching, and providing
appropriate professional development opportunities.
Job duties
include developing and implementing project plans, including scopes of
work, budgets, and schedules; serving as project manager; managing work
processes including work assignment and work flow; reviewing work to
ensure quality; developing and managing digital assets; identifying and
managing vendors; directing photo shoots; ensuring team has appropriate
