The Society of Design (SOD) is a Pennsylvania-based non-profit organization dedicated to multidisciplinary design education and community service. When they wanted to invite lettering phenom Jessica Hische to be speak for the organization, they didn’t just shoot her an email, they got seriously creative.

Society of Design presented a one-of-a-kind invitation to persuade letterer, illustrator and designer Jessica Hische to be a featured speaker in the group’s annual speakers series. The web site invitinghische.com chronicles the 3-1/2 month project, which involved 34 individuals who changed their Pennsylvania vehicle registrations for custom license plates. Combined, the 27 license plates create a message inviting Hische to speak.

And she said yes!

And to thank everyone involved in the project, she’s hand-lettering all 35 of their names in her inimitable style.

I feel like crying, that’s an amazing effort to put an invitation together. May it be a successful session, and draw more people into joining.
