An Ode To The Employee
Posted by MeganJosh Jeffryes just posted a lovely little essay on The Business of Design Online about becoming an employee after running your own business. Of course, it's a culture shock, but Jeffryes finds comfort in the power of the creative team.

kevin carroll, catalyst, author, spokesperson?
Posted by TriciaSo, I was just eating my lunch and re-watching a bit of Heroes from last night and this ad caught my eye. Kevin Carroll, author of Rules of the Red Rubber Ball, former catalyst for Nike and a favorite speaker of past HOW Design Conferences, now has another skill to add to his resume—spokesperson for BlackBerry. He's part of their Ask Someone Why They love Their Blackberry campaign and he's in good company with the likes of Nina Garcia and Adam Lowry.

Brand Love
Posted by MeganTo celebrate the evolution of Lovemarks, a limited edition of Kevin Roberts’ original book, Lovemarks: the future beyond brands (2004, powerHouse Books) will be released soon. The new book, Lovemarks: the Saatchi & Saatchi Designers’ Edition was created by sixteen designers or design teams from Saatchi & Saatchi’s worldwide network—from New Zealand to New York, Beijing to London. Each was commissioned to visually reinterpret a chapter of their choosing from the original book. From the beautifully restrained to the outrageously eclectic, the designers’ unique interpretations take the central precept of each chapter and illuminate it in print. One example is the central Lovemarks idea of Loyalty Beyond Reason. In the new book, this is illustrated by the creation of an original tattoo, which was inked on eager recipients when the book was launched at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2006.
A limited edition run of 1,000 copies will be available for $75.

What's In A Name
Posted by Bryn
Via VeryShortListI didn't fully appreciate just how unusual my name is until I typed it into the NameVoyager on the Baby Name Wizard website. It charts the popularity of various names (think: Apple, Suri, Phinnaeus) based on Social Security Administration records. Fun for a Friday. Just for Fun
