What A Mug
Create an online profile picture like a police composite with Veer's amusing Unusual Suspects tool. This sort of looks like me: But this is what I would look like if my face matched my personality: Posted by Megan Just for Fun

An Illustrated Life
I've always been fascinated by the sketchbooks of illustrators, artists and designers. Seeing their work at its most raw is like peeking directly in the creative centers of their brains. When I came across Danny Gregory, who has formed a whole community around the idea of drawing and keeping a visual journal for personal growth, I knew he would be the perfect person to write a book that slips inside the secret pages of the visually creative. And I was right. An Illustrated Life captures the hopes, dreams, fears and mundane musing of a talented group of professionals and amateurs. It will inspire you to pull out a fresh Moleskine and start filling up the pages. Danny made a great video that really captures the essence of the book. Check it out. Posted by Megan HOW Books

We're All the Same
You know how you peer into your closet every morning, wondering what to wear? Yeah, everyone else on the planet does, too, and many of us step out into each day wearing the EXACT SAME THING. Rotterdam-based photographer Ari Versluis and stylist Ellie Uyttenbroek began a photo-documentary project 14 years ago to catalog all the fashion "types" from punks to muscle-boys. The resulting website, Exactitudes.com, is fascinating. via VeryShortList Thought Provoking

Postage Stamps By Type Designers
To see gorgeous typography in the most limited of spaces, check out this amazing collection of postage stamps created by type designers. Gerrit Noordzij (b. 1931) is a Dutch teacher, type
designer, and typographer. From 1960 through his retirement in 1990, he
taught at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. He designed many books
for Van Oorschot publishers and has written many articles about writing
and type. Julian Waters (b.1957) is a designer and calligrapher
living near Washington D.C. In 1989 he succeeded Hermann Zapf in
teaching annual lettering workshops at Rochester Institute of
Technology. With clients including the USPS and National Geographic, he
has received awards from the Type Directors Club, Art Directors Club, Print Magazine, and Letter Arts Review Annual. Posted by Megan Typography

Job Of The Day
Creative Director The ShopAre you secretly hoping to be part of a scrappy agency where you can
have a significant impact on the company’s vision and growth? We’re an
unconventional and collaborative branding shop that’s got big dreams
and needs a talented creative director to help pave the way. We’re
based in Bend, but are opening an office in Portland where you’ll help
run the show. We’re looking for a natural leader who knows how
to lead with inspiration and a great spirit – not a big ego. You should
be terrific at managing in-house and freelance talent, and able to
generate big ideas that win accounts and awards. You should have a
knock-out book of national client work in both traditional and
interactive media. If working intensely with a small group of spirited adventures and crafting stories threaded with emotion are your idea of great day, we'd love to talk. Posted by Megan Industry News

Collaboration
Change Order has a great post on why you should learn to work collaboratively. 2. Collaborative making is a sign of maturity in your portfolio.
I respect nothing more than seeing a designer's portfolio stuffed with
killer creative work, chased by a presentation where the designer talks
about how they brought the unique strengths of each team member to bear
on the work. The designer carries the vision, while the team supports
it. Such a designer can become a leader.
