Heart Chart

This altered eye chart by illustrator Adam Ziskie makes me think his heart has really been broken recently. In any case, it's the perfect combination of humor and sadness. All great art is bittersweet.

Big Softies

We did just a calendar item about this a couple of weeks ago, but FOH* Michael Osborne sent us a bit more info about SOFTSPOT, a recent exhibit that two MFA students at the Academy of Art University created for their joint thesis. The exhibit and companion website explores the many ways designers can use their talent and passion for social change. Cool!

Things I Like

San Francisco-based designer Richard Perez knows how to play with type, as in this poster of his favorite things. (I'm down with them all except for Lincoln and VHS tapes).

Master Typographer

Nice profile on FontFeed of master typographer and printer Jim Rimmer, who was also featured in HOW's February issue on type. You may recall that piece, which detailed Rimmer's Stern typeface -- a gorgeous piece of work that was released simultaneously in metal and as a digital font from P22. Writer and type aficionado Tamye Riggs did a bangup job with the profile, and we were lucky to have some lovely images to work with. (Photo below is from the FontFeed profile.)
