Job Of The Day
Senior Graphic Designer J.P. Morgan, New York City
The senior graphic designer is part of a creative group –
writers/editors and designers/production specialists – who work within
Marketing to conceptualize, execute and produce sophisticated marketing
collaterals that will advance sales objectives by leveraging our
intellectual capital and reflecting our brand values. These collaterals
are primarily print pieces but other media could be used to distribute
content. We work on a PC platform.
1) The
senior designer is one of a four-person team that produces marketing
materials targeted at the private client. Working with the creative
director or content strategist, the designer creates solutions that are
visually engaging and easy to use, and reflect our brand values.
2)
The senior designer executes each assignment from start to finish:
understanding the objectives of the project, completing the agreed-upon
deliverable on time and within budget, communicating with key
stakeholders, and working with the Marketing Analyst on distribution.
3)
In making design choices as well as in buying print and other services,
the senior designer is expected to be cost-efficient and, where
possible, make “green” choices. The designer represents J.P. Morgan’s
interests with all vendors, to achieve quality and value.
4)
The senior designer is expected to learn about the wealth management
business. The expectation is that a deeper understanding of our
business will lead to a more compelling treatment of the content.
5)
The senior designer will stand in for the creative head occasionally,
and must be able to successfully communicate conceptual ideas and
design rationale. Posted by Megan

Paper Craft
We've noticed a recent increased interest in making objects from paper. We collected a group of awesome paper toys in Urban Paper, which just came out. And another collection of paper goodies will be published early next year in a book called Papercuts. The fab German publisher Gestalten is releasing a book called Papercraft this fall that looks like a stunning collection of different kinds of paper art and design.
