The Well-Hued Wedding
Boy, do we wish this had existed back in the day, when we were forced by our "friends" to wear godawful bridesmaid dresses ...
Pantone has teamed up with The Dessy Group, makers of bridal attire, to create a suite of dresses, accessories and planning tools guaranteed to produce chromatically appropriate wedding parties. Dessy's Pantone Wedding collection lets brides-to-be upload images and swatches to create inspirational "mood boards," select their color palette, choose coordinating hues and even take Pantone color samples to their florist, baker and wedding planner.
The collection includes dresses, bowtie/cummerbund combos, purses and shoes (even matching flip-flops for the bride to wear post-ceremony)—in a staggering 200 different Pantone colors.
It's genius, really. Makes us want to get hitched all over again.

What's Up This Week?
Two of our most excellent colleagues are in DC to host this week's InHOWse Designer Conference, including Megan, who gives this blog most of its care and feeding. Megan is our most prolific blogstress, but the rest of us will try to keep up. Meantime, if you're missing out on the InHOWse event this week, you can catch snippets of what's going on by following @HOWbrand on Twitter and searching for the #IHConf-tagged tweets.

Phoenix Design Week
I love discovering hidden design scenes around the country. This event in Arizona will put a spotlight on the city of Phoenix.
Phoenix Design Week (October 21-25) is a celebration of the vibrant Phoenix design community for print, web, motion, and interactive designers. The week consists of exhibits, a film festival, and a multi-track conference, with keynote speakers, panels, and workshops. Additionally, we have confirmed some keynote speakers, including Debbie Millman, and we just confirmed Typophile Film Festival 5.

Job Of The Day
Senior Graphic Designer That's Nice, New York City
Marketing agency of 15+ people based in a New York City loft space,
specializing in integrated brand marketing, seeks a fulltime senior
graphic designer with at least 4-6 years post-college fulltime
experience at a design firm or in-house position. The successful
candidate must be highly proficient with InDesign, Photoshop and
Illustrator (using Adobe CS3 suite), and at doing their own production.
That’s
Nice works for clients operating in specialty manufacturing and
pharmaceutical markets, along with home décor and retail companies.
Experience in these sectors would therefore be an advantage. A
background in magazine design or publishing may also be suited to this
role, along with designing website flats or packaging.
This
position requires a highly creative person who can work through and
manage integrated projects from concept to production. There is no team
management responsibility but candidates must be able to work
independently, handling many projects at one time, and also collaborate
in a team environment – taking ideas from lead designers and directors,
as well as helping junior designers. Above all, excellent typography
skills and experience building files to finished production standards
using all CS3 programs are a must. We do not have a production
department and all released files must be print ready.
Traditional
background in print design with experience working in many different
mediums would be an advantage – client projects are all inclusive and
vary from print and web flats through packaging and environmental /
exhibit design to motion graphics. Experience in understanding spacial
relationships for environments as well as web architecture and
functionality would be advantages. As is experience working on large
strategic client projects with many applications – we rarely work on
one-off projects. Web and motion graphic projects do not require
programming skills – flat designs only. Programmers need not apply.Posted by Megan Industry News
