Marshmallow Goodness

I saw the most adorable bag of marshmallows at Whole Foods yesterday and almost bought it simply because of the cute characters on the package, which I'm pretty sure are these guys, created by designer Yael Miller for Elyon Marshmallows.

Fun at Work

As we were planning the cover of this year's Business Annual, it occurred to us (coincidentally) that all of the firms featured in the issue are finding killer ways to make their work fun. Which, naturally, led to a bit of play with the cover concept. Here's a sneak peek at this year's Business Annual cover, coming soon to a newsstand near you. (Yep, that's Play-Doh.)

'Cause, really, shouldn't work be fun? We think so!

Type Trouble

The Font Bureau is suing NBC for trademark infringement over several faces that are part of their fall marketing campaign.
In a trademark and copyright infringement lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court, Font Bureau argues that NBC only paid for a single license—which would only permit the company to install the typefaces on a single computer—and only paid to use a limited number of fonts. But NBC went ahead and copied the fonts to a bunch of other computers within the company, Font Bureau claims, and also started using several other fonts for which licenses were never obtained. (In case you're wondering, the typefaces in question include Bureau Grotesque, Interstate and Antenna.)

Friday Font Find

P22 Type Foundry and the Sherwood Collection introduce Spooky by Ted
Staunton. (On sale for $15.96 throughout the month of October.)
Spooky is a chilling font that is evocative of the type used in horror
films and posters. It's creepy, it's kooky...it's spooky. Perfect for
invitations, banners or other ghastly uses.

Pretty Girls

Illustrator Caitlin Kuhwald recently finished and assignment for R/GA New York that was turned into a fun iPhone app.
Early this summer I was asked to create illustrations for an iPhone application for AMP energy drink. Honestly, it was one of the most challenging jobs I’ve ever done: it had tight deadlines and a lot of detail to pack into some small spaces. But it was also my dream job.

Had I been asked to do whatever I wanted for two months, I would have wanted to paint loads of pretty girls in as many pretty outfits. And painting pretty girls is exactly what I got to do.
