Stefan Mumaw on Reflex Blue Show
Geesh ... how'd we miss this a couple of weeks ago? Anyhoo ... Nate Voss and Donovan Beery, the guys behind the Reflex Blue Show podcast, recently interviewed one of our fave people, HOW Books author and conference rockstar Stefan Mumaw. It's absolutely worth a listen. From their preview:
... we mainly wanted
to talk about the other hobbies Stefan has, which seems to be writing
design books. Starting with Simple Websites and Redesigning Websites,
Stefan then moved on to teaming up with Wendy Lee Oldfield and creating
two books that seem to be everywhere in the design circles now: Caffeine for the Creative Mind and the just released Caffeine for the Creative Team.
If you ever run out of creative, these books will give you the pick-up
you need to get going again, and this is what we mostly talk about.
When you create two books like these, it's really all we want to cover. Listen to the episode.

Inst-O-Matic
I'm still hoping someone will start making Polaroid film again, but until that happens, I'm psyched about this Fuji Instax Instant Camera.
It prints credit card-sized photos on bold Fuji film, but
retains a classic instant film look that everyone loves. Plus, you've
got more control when you're shooting: four exposure settings for
indoor/outdoor shooting, a built-in flash, and a sweeping wide angle. Posted by Megan Gifts and Goodies

CoverGirl Global In-Store Design Manager Procter and Gamble, Hunt Valley, MD
CoverGirl is looking for a Global In-Store Design Manager for their
Brand Identity team. This role will be to lead and define the Global

mainly on the NA customer wall executions but also leading the design
equity for other regional implementation.
This is both a
strategic and a 'hands on' role: translating the brand's equity in an
innovative and distinctive manner that redefines the in-store
experience, while also working on day-to-day retailer & regional
needs. This person will be responsible for setting the In-Store
standards for the brand, which includes compiling guidelines, and
deploying/supporting them, as well as working with in-store development
team to ensure ongoing brand vision. Most of the work will be around
In-Store graphics but can at times include influencing-optimizing the
planogram layouts.
Shopper tools and fixturing will also fall
under this person's responsibilities. Because of this, the ideal

Ad Collage
Linda Nakanishi is a graphic/web designer, a part time web design teacher at Humber College in Toronto, Canada, and a lifelong crafter. She recently decided to use the paper ads in old issues of HOW for her Upcycle Collage Project.
I enjoy reading this magazine and often keep the issues for references.
And one thing I noticed in every issue were these great paper company
ads showcasing some great paper finishes, laser cutting and vivid
images. But at the end of the day they were still advertising, so I
thought since they are not an integral part of being a reference, I
thought I’d give the paper ads a new life in my collage project. My
rule is to only use the paper ads, seeing as they are the only ads that
are two sided and do not have articles on the backside.

Marshmallow Goodness
I saw the most adorable bag of marshmallows at Whole Foods yesterday and almost bought it simply because of the cute characters on the package, which I'm pretty sure are these guys, created by designer Yael Miller for Elyon Marshmallows.
