Before I Die …

Designer, urban planner and artist Candy Chang has captured my attention with her work that stops people in their tracks and makes them think—sometimes in their own neighborhoods, as you’ll see in an upcoming Designing Change column.

In a recent project, Candy transformed a wall of the gallery into a giant chalkboard stenciled with the phrase, “Before I die I want to _____.” Visitors are left searching their souls and scratching on the board with chalk to fill in the blank. “This project is also about sharing and discovering the hopes and aspirations of the people around you,” Candy says.

If you’re in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, area,  stop by and pick up a piece of chalk: Subtext Projects’ FREERIDING show at East/West Galleries. Or, fill in the blanks below.
